Working Hard

Today was another great day in Antigua. It rained a lot last night and it was almost cool. Several of the team commented that they even used a sheet in the night. Many said it was the best night of sleep they have had since we got here. We are thankful for the rain - it means we can keep showering. :) The water we use to shower is rain water and we try to use it sparingly. The rain also meant that it was a little bit cooler in the morning. The outside crew was very thankful for this. They have almost completed the fence project. They assure me that it will be done by 10 am tomorrow. They have been working so hard! The inside crew is continuing to work on a lot of editing projects. Several are cleaning up the sound on music and sermons that have been recorded from cassettes or records. This can be monotonous but everyone is doing it cheerfully. Jonny got the chance to teach some of the staff members a lesson on Adobe Audition - the sound editing software. He will do a follow up lesson tomorrow morning. Each day there is a half hour radio show in the afternoon that someone on our team gets to do Live. Today Jessiejane got to do the show. She has not had any radio/audio classes in college, but has quickly learned while she has been here. She did a great job!
While I was working on the blog last night, the team went down to the beach and searched for crabs. Imagine my delight when I came down to find a whole bucket full of crabs waiting for me in the main room. These are not the kind that you eat.... They all thought it was pretty funny. They then decided it would be interesting to see what would happen if they put a tarantula in with the crabs. I was less than amused! Nothing really happened between the tarantula and the crabs. I was thankful when they finally disposed of all of the creatures.
We have a full week of work. We will continue to work at the Radio Lighthouse, have chapels in schools, do some tutoring at a local primary school, clean brush around the AM and FM towers, and help with a local Bible club. I am staying very busy trying to feed all 14 people. I was hoping the heat would make people not as hungry. I was wrong! These boys can really eat after a long day of working outside!

We are anxious to see what the Lord has in store for this week. We appreciate all of the prayers. Everything has been going so well and we can tell that people are praying.

  1. Looks like the team is working hard. I see Ben is putting to good use the skills he acquired growing up on a wooded lot! Am praying that the team stays safe and well and that this will be a time of ministry in their lives that they will always treasure!

  2. Hi Ben,
It looks like you all are getting alot of work done down there. I'm sure the Lord is pleased with your service to Him. I've been praying for you since you left. Work hard, have fun and take lots of pictures. I look forward to hearing all about the trip. In response to your last text message to me, I'm "letting you know" that God IS always in control! Mark 11:24 :)
