These last two days have been a great learning experience for the team. The weather here is so hot and humid! We enjoy going to work at the radio station because that is the only place with air conditioning. Yesterday, we got a tour of the station and got to meet all of the local workers. We were all assigned to different jobs. There is an outside crew and an inside crew. I think that it is safe to say that the inside crew doing the audio work has a much easier job. The outside crew worked on repairing a fence today. It was 90 degrees with 80% humidity. They only worked for about a half an hour at a time before taking water breaks. The inside crew is working on cleaning up old audio, ripping new CDs, creating children's programs, and doing live shifts. Each day we get to run to the beach before dinner to try to cool off a little bit. Last night the team had a lot of fun playing games together. Tonight we are going to help a local youth group. We will meet from 7-9. We are excited about the opportunity.
Last night there was a little excitement at the girl's house. There was a tarantula right outside the door. Most of the girls were upset and wanted it dead! However, the house rules say not to kill them because they kill other bugs. There was a big discussion over what was the right thing to do. I will leave it at that... I don't want to incriminate what may or may not have happened after that. :)
Here are some more pictures from our trip! Thank you for your prayers.
Poor outside people. They deserve an award.
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know that we are praying for you & enjoying hearing the reports. We'll pray for the tarantula population too!

Praying for the team as you minister and help. While growing up in Alabama may have helped one of the team members deal (in part) with the heat and humidity, we have no experience with tarantulas!
